Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, is usually a longer-term style of therapy. It focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering and is rooted in the ideas of self-reflection and self-examination. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are for an individual to gain self-awareness and an understanding of their internal processes and how past behaviors and relationships effect present behavior and mood. Psychodynamic therapy not only aims to treat many of one’s presenting symptoms but it strives to help individuals lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Most if not all of us have had difficult relationships in the past with family members or important people in our lives. This style of therapy believes that it is in part these relationships that are impacting our current negative symptoms and it is its goal to examine the unresolved conflicts and symptoms that arise from these past and sometimes current relationships.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for a wide range of mental health symptoms, including depression, anxiety, panic, stress-related physical ailments, and many others. Research has demonstrated that the benefits of this therapy continue to grow after treatment has ended.

Since everything is a reflection of our minds, everything can be changed by our minds.
